Dr. Philipsen began his academic journey at Marquette University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences. Following his undergraduate studies, he dedicated a year of service to the Milwaukee community through AmeriCorps, reflecting his early devotion to public service and healthcare accessibility. He went on to receive his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University, one of the nation’s top institutions for podiatric education. He then completed a rigorous three-year surgical residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where he specialized in managing complex foot and ankle pathologies, including diabetic limb salvage, wound care, and rearfoot reconstruction. He is currently board qualified in both forefoot and rearfoot surgery.

Dr. Philipsen is affiliated with American Podiatry & Medical Association (APMA) and the Wisconsin Podiatric Medical Association (WPMA). His areas of clinical focus include cardiovascular-related foot conditions, arthritic foot and ankle disorders, and chronic wound management, particularly in diabetic patients. Respected by both peers and patients, Dr. Philipsen’s compassionate care and attention to surgical precision have positioned him as a trusted leader in his specialty.

When he’s not treating patients, Dr. Philipsen enjoys an active lifestyle that includes downhill skiing, spending time with his dog, and supporting Wisconsin’s sports teams.
